Just about every business has an interest in how to get more sales.  Below are a few very practical areas to focus on to increase sales.

1.  Increase Number of New Prospects that You Touch

When it comes to increasing sales from new prospects, one of the key variables that we need to increase is the number of prospects that we are able to touch and connect with.  Here are a few ways to increase productivity and effectiveness in this area.

  • Cold Calling:  Cold calling is one of the most common and well known ways for a business or sales person to connect with new prospects.  Some people will debate the effectiveness of cold calling and claim it is a thing of the past.  While technology has changed providing both sales people with other prospecting tools and also helping prospects to avoid cold calls, there is still place in prospecting by picking up the phone and trying to talk with potential prospects.
  • Email Marketing:  Email marketing is a very cost effective way to communicate with and stay in touch with new prospects.  One way to accomplish this is to have a monthly newsletter that communicates news, tips, and promotions.
  • Social Media:  When trying to work on how to get more sales, social media can be a great tool as you can use many of the different available platforms to connect and communicate with new prospects.
  • Search Engine Optimization:  SEO may be one of the most powerful and effective tools or methods to use to connect with new prospects.  By investing time and energy into improving a website’s SEO, a drastic improvement in communicating with prospects can occur.
  • Professional Networking:  Professional networking is one of the most immediate ways to improve results with how to get more sales as you can establish immediate and strong professional relationships.  These connections can either lead to become clients or referral partners and both can lead to increasing sales.



2.  Increase Referrals and Repeat Business

While most attention with how to get more sales is usually focused on getting new customers, it can often be easier to increase sales by focusing on our existing customers.

  • Deliver Quality Service:  Every sales strategy should include attention, investment, and energy on delivering quality service to the existing clients.  It is much easier to keep existing clients and try to keep them than recruiting new business.
  • Reciprocation:  As business owners and/or sales people, one of our top interests is to increase sales.  But if we shift from first trying to help ourselves and transition to trying to help others first, whether that be help our clients or help our contacts to build their businesses, we will likely see a positive impact on our own sales in terms of repeat business and referrals.
  • Send Cards:  One effective way to increase sales from referrals and repeat business is to send greeting cards to our referral partners, our prospects, our current clients, and our past clients.  This is a great way to not only stay in touch, but also express your gratitude for the relationship that you share.
